Will's Walk for HOPE

Coast to Coast to Rejoice Recovery

Why

The Story

Greetings! I hope you’re having a blessed day. As a caring individual you understand the pressing need for a solution to the impact the pandemic has had on many individuals. I share that same sentiment and am doing what I can do to spread the word of HOPE, during this unprecedented time.

You see, God placed a significant mission on my heart during a “Date with God” hike this past Thanksgiving Day. He asked me to walk coast to coast spreading the word of HOPE. As with all things inspired by God, I was in a season of life that gives me the ability to pursue this mission, but not without additional support.

I have had my own life significantly impacted over the last two years, but more importantly have seen it shaped over the last 4+ years in a way that I believe embodies HOPE. My “HOPE” is to spread this message and share with people a new way to thrive in an uncertain time. I’m calling it Rejoice Recovery!

2022 is a year in which I will personally be celebrating a number of significant, life changing 5-year anniversaries. These include my 5-year sobriety anniversary (free from alcohol), 5 years from the date I drove myself to the ER (afraid I was going to take my own life) and spent 4 days in a psych hold, the 5-year anniversary of an accident that could have taken my life, among other life altering events.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned during my recovery journey is that with HOPE I can find peace and joy, no matter the circumstances. And today I choose to Rejoice Recovery and want to honor God by sharing this message Coast to Coast!

We all know the last two years have been an incredibly difficult season for a great many people. We have lost friends & family, we have more uncertainty in our lives, we have faced much division, and for many, HOPE has disappeared.

This journey is not about me but about spreading the word of HOPE. Won’t you help spread the word!

FAQ's

Most frequent questions and answers

I have already started training (End of November) and have a start date goal of March 5, 2022.

The entire journey is about 2800 miles. My goal is to walk at least 120 miles per week. I’d like to walk 20 miles/day and take a rest day on Sunday’s. With that weekly mileage it will take about 5 and a half months.

At this point I’m planning on starting at Sunset Beach, CA (close to Huntington Beach, CA) and finishing in Virginia Beach, VA.

There are so many reasons! The biggest reason is to spread HOPE! My life has changed in many ways over the last handful of years and I want to share that message. The last 2 years have been very difficult for many of us but yet I believe even through these difficult times we can find Peace, Joy and True Happiness!

I will be doing it by myself but am looking for someone that may be able to drive a support vehicle. My biggest wish is that someone would loan me their RV and then have a support person who could drive that for me. Outside of that I’m completely open to having others join me along the way.

There are many ways to support my journey. Of course one of the biggest ways is through a financial contribution. The entire journey is going to cost over $40,000 and I can’t do that alone. But that’s not the only way to support me. Sharing my journey with others (friends, family, organizations, etc.) and also social media is a huge help. I truly want to touch as many lives as possible.
